About Ksar Jewels

Jewelry education written by people who've spent their lives in the industry

Our Story

Ksar Jewels started with a simple frustration: why is it so hard to find honest, practical jewelry information? The internet is full of content designed to sell you something, but very little that actually helps you understand what you're buying.

My name is Victoria Laurent, and I've worked in the jewelry industry for over twenty years. I started as a bench jeweler's apprentice, spent years grading diamonds for a major laboratory, managed a high-end jewelry store, and eventually became an independent consultant. Through all of that, the most valuable thing I learned wasn't how to appraise a stone or repair a setting—it was how to help people make confident decisions about jewelry.

Ksar Jewels exists to give you that same confidence. No sales pitch. No hidden agenda. Just straight talk from someone who knows how the industry actually works.

Our Mission

To demystify fine jewelry by providing accessible education, professional-grade tools, and honest guidance—so everyone can make informed decisions whether they're buying a simple stud or investing in a collection.

What We Offer

Frequently Asked Questions

Who writes the content on Ksar Jewels?

Our articles are primarily written by Victoria Laurent, a GIA-certified gemologist with over twenty years of experience in the jewelry industry. When we cover specialized topics, we consult with other professionals including appraisers, jewelers, and industry analysts.

Are the tools really free? What's the catch?

They're genuinely free. We built these tools because we believe everyone should have access to the same resources that jewelry professionals use. We make money through affiliate links (which we clearly label) and occasional sponsored content (also clearly labeled). This doesn't affect our recommendations—we'll tell you when something isn't worth buying regardless of whether we earn a commission.

Do you sell jewelry?

No. Ksar Jewels is an educational resource, not a retailer. We don't take a cut of any sales, and we don't have relationships that pressure us to recommend specific vendors. This independence is core to how we operate.

How do I know I can trust your information?

We cite our sources, explain our reasoning, and update content when industry standards change. We don't pretend that one opinion is the only correct view—when there's legitimate disagreement in the industry, we present multiple perspectives. If you spot an error, we want to know. Contact us at admin@ksarjewels.com.

Can I use your content for my own project?

Our articles are copyrighted, but we're generally happy to allow educational use with attribution. If you're an educator or student, reach out and we'll likely say yes. Commercial use requires permission.

Why "Ksar Jewels"?

"Ksar" is the Berber word for fortified village, particularly common in North African architecture. The name reflects our approach: building something solid and lasting, a resource you can return to again and again. Plus, it's distinctive and memorable—which matters when you're trying to build something people trust.
